“I have been proud to serve the needs of the children of the City of Pittsfield as a member of the School Committee, now I want to serve you and the City of Pittsfield as your City Councilor at Large.”
I want to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to my election campaign website. Thank you for your interest in my campaign. To all of you who supported me in my past campaigns for election to the Pittsfield School Committee, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your past support, and ask for your continued support as I transition to this new election campaign for Pittsfield City Councilor at Large. I have been proud to serve you and the educational interests of your children as a member of the School Committee and look forward to serving the larger needs of the City of Pittsfield on the City Council.
While on the School Committee, I was honored to be part of a great team that introduced and implemented a series of successful initiatives that served to improve the educational outcomes of our students. I feel confident that having an effective superintendent and a committed school committee in place will allow for the continued improvement of our school system.
While I love our schools and feel committed to our students, I feel the time is right for me to run for the Pittsfield City Council. This motivation comes from the fact that there will be a high level of turn over in leadership with a new mayor and at least five new city councilors. I am deeply committed to the continued progress of our city and strongly believe that I have a valuable contribution to make as we go through this critical period of transition. Pittsfield has made great strides to improve as a city in the past eight years, concentrating primarily on the downtown and the adjoining neighborhoods. It is now time to not only continue in that direction, but to start reaping the benefits of those investments by growing the business base of our city. We should look to do this by not only seeking to attract new businesses, but to look for ways to support the growth of our existing businesses. One of my major priorities will be to concentrate on employment growth. Economic growth is only beneficial if it results in putting the people of Pittsfield to work. That is what I am committed to.
As you visit this website I hope you will get a sense of who I am and how important Pittsfield is to me. It has been my home for over 25 years; it is the birth place of my wife of 36 years, Pat, and the place where both of our sons, C.C. and John, were raised and educated, graduating from Taconic High School. I am running in this election to not to give back (which is a popular reason), I am running to share. To share my life experiences, to share my knowledge and to share my energy with you to make Pittsfield a city where all residents feel valued. This value is reflected in having a city that is safe, clean, vibrant and productive for everyone. It is our responsibility as a community to work together and I hope when you go to the polls on November 8, 2011 you will vote for me, knowing that we can work together for a better Pittsfield.
Please feel free to use the “Contact Churchill” link to email me with your questions, thoughts and input. I am willing to hear any ideas you have, particularly concerning employment growth.
